SWA-SL Eco-Green School Program
The Eco-Green Schools project is an evolving initiative encouraging youths to establish connections with their environment by providing them the opportunity to actively protect it. It all starts in the classroom; it expands to the school and eventually fosters change in the community at large. Through this project, youths will experience a sense of achievement at being able to have a say in the environmental management policies of their schools, ultimately steering them towards SWA-SL Eco-Green School certification and the prestige which comes with being awarded a SWA-SL Eco-Green Flag. The Eco-Green Schools project is an ideal way for schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community while at the same time having a life-long positive impact on the lives of young people, their families, school, staff and local authorities.

Clean Up Campaigns
The Solid Waste Alliance Sierra Leone (SWA-SL) Clean-Up Campaign is a community-driven initiative dedicated to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments across Sierra Leone. Through this campaign, SWA-SL mobilizes residents, schools, local councils, and businesses to take collective action against littering and poor waste management practices.
Our clean-up activities focus on removing waste from streets, markets, beaches, and drainage systems while raising public awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal and recycling. Each event serves as both a hands-on clean-up effort and an educational opportunity to inspire long-term behavioral change.
SWA-SL also trains and equips waste workers with safety gear and best practices to ensure their well-being during clean-up operations. By empowering local communities and promoting environmental stewardship, the campaign contributes to improved public health, reduced pollution, and enhanced urban resilience.
The Clean-Up Campaign is part of SWA-SL’s broader mission to advance sustainable waste management solutions and foster civic responsibility. Together, these efforts aim to build a cleaner Sierra Leone. one community at a time. Be part of the change by volunteering, sponsoring, or partnering with SWA-SL. Every action counts toward a cleaner, greener future for all.
